Jere predicts photo finish

CAPS United president Farai Jere has predicted a thrilling final push in this year’s league marathon as he believes there are no odds-on favourites to land the title among the leading pack.

FC Platinum lead the race with 44 points while Jere’s team are a point behind with eight games before the season comes to a close.

Highlanders (38), ZPC Kariba and Dynamos (both 35) and Harare City (32) are all still in the race and could have a big say in the destiny of the championship.

“I can see the league marathon going all the way to the wire as there are no clear favourites to win the title. All the clubs in the top six have a chance of landing the title. The race is tight and I think the team which will post consistent results in the coming matches will claim the championship,” said Jere.

Jere said he was not putting any pressure on his men to win the league title as what they have done so far was something that should be hailed.

“CAPS United have a chance to win the title and if we win then we will all be happy. But at the moment the team should not be tempted into thinking about winning the championship. The race will only be over when it is over,” he said.
