PREMIER Soccer League chairman, Farai Jere, is pleading with ZIFA First Instance Board not to adopt a hardline stance when inspecting and approving stadiums for the 2024 season.
The league championship race is set to get underway next weekend and the FIB are yet to make a decision on the capital’s three possible venues — Rufaro, Heart Stadium and the National Sports Stadium.
Simba Bhora’s Wadzanai Stadium and Sakubva, which is going to be Manica Diamonds’ hoem ground, are believed to be 80 percent complete.
“Fans are being starved of local football because there is no point in having most of the games played outside Harare.
“It’s very unfortunate that our grounds have been the biggest letdown in the growth of our football but I also feel that FIB should make it possible for those who have shown great commitment to improving these stadiums by approving them to host matches while doing the final touch-ups.
“I think Rufaro is now ready and I will be disappointed if it is not approved because what I saw was very encouraging and they just need to work on a few areas to tick all boxes, but the important ones have been ticked,” said Jere.
He added:
