BULAWAYO’s revered acoustic guitarist, Jeys Marabini will on Boxing Day dedicate a show to his fans.

This will be his last show of the year and will run under the theme “Special Music to Special People”.

“My fans are special to me and always uplift me hence the need to dedicate this show to them. It will be a family show and the last one that I will hold this year,” he said.

Jeys said they were planning on shooting a live DVD at the show that would be distributed to his fans.

He thanked artistes for extending their support in the growth of arts in Bulawayo.

“I believe people are slowly accepting their artistes and as a token of appreciation, we will distribute live DVDs of the show to our fans,” he said.

Although Bulawayo artistes have not been getting enough local support with fans opting for South African acts, Jeys challenged people to support their own artistes saying they were guaranteed of better music.

“It’s time to support our own musicians. Promoters have a tendency of isolating local artistes in major gigs as they are never given the platform to perform and showcase their talent but we urge them to recognise the importance of local acts which he said usually connects very well with the people’s experiences,” he said.

The show will be held a day before one of the biggest music fiestas on the entertainment calendar in Bulawayo — the Kalawa Homecoming and Jeys said they hoped to fill up the venue.

He said fans should also expect his new album next year.

“I am sure we will fill up the venue. Besides it will be more of a family event. My new album is also due next year,” he said.
