Harare Bureau
A Harare man, Tendai Mademutsa has taken legal action against his former girlfriend Tatenda Mharadzi whom he accuses of reneging on the initial promise to marry him.
The 32 year-old Mharadzi, who is now on the run has already been convicted by a village court in absentia for her alleged involvement in homosexual activities with a Harare lady Hazvinei Chinake who is also at large.
Mademutsa wants the family of the fugitive Mharadzi to compensate him for the bride-price he is claiming to have paid for the hand of Tatenda in marriage.
Speaking exclusively to our sister paper the H-metro, Mharadzi’s uncle Josiah Matingwina said his family has already disowned her for shaming their whole clan and community and wants the village court to effect the mandatory maximum sentence for her involvement in Homosexual activities.
“We have no capacity to pay back the money Mademutsa gave us as the family had recommended that he gets married to her, but she decided to act otherwise engaging in a cultural abomination by engaging in sexual activities with other women,” he fumed.
Matingwina said his family which has already furnished the village court with video evidence is requesting for capital punishment for the fugitive Tatenda.
The prosecution office at the Rotten Row civil court confirmed receiving the papers of Mademutsa who wants to be re-instituted to the tune of US$25 000 for loss of comfort and deprivation.
Said the court official, “I can confirm that Mademutsa filed the papers with respect to the bride-price money he had paid to the family of Tatenda Mharadzi who had promised to marry him but later reneged on the initial plan and started to engage in unnatural sexual acts with other women”.
Homosexual activities remain banned in Zimbabwe just like as in any other African countries.
