POLICE in Kenzamba, Makonde, have arrested Eustyn Moyo (33) in connection with an attempted double murder involving his ex-lover and her current boyfriend.

The incident occurred early on November 12, when the couple was rescued from a burning bedroom.

Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed Moyo’s arrest.

On that night, Watson Kazembe (29) visited his girlfriend, Barbara Zimbiti (22), and the two retired to bed.

But around 2am, family members were awakened by loud noises coming from Zimbiti’s room.

When they rushed to investigate, they discovered the room engulfed in flames.

Villagers quickly responded to the distress calls and helped extinguish the fire.

Kazembe and Zimbiti were rescued but sustained severe burns.

They were initially taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital and later transferred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare for further treatment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Moyo had visited Zimbiti’s home earlier that night, where he allegedly had a heated argument with her over property division following their breakup.
