A 27-YEAR-OLD woman was shot twice by her lover in front of a police officer after ending their relationship, a court heard.
Miss Siphathisiwe Ncube died after being shot in the head and right thigh by her estranged boyfriend, Danis David Konson, the Bulawayo High Court heard.
Konson, of Tshongogwe in Lupane District, was enraged after Miss Ncube left him for another man, Mr Sikhumbuzo Dube, from the same village, according to court papers.

Konson had opened a grocery shop for Miss Ncube at Tshongogwe Business Centre and had demanded his money back after the end of their affair.

The trial of Konson, of St Albans Drive in Parklands, Bulawayo, is set to begin at the High Court today after the first of 12 state witnesses failed to come to court yesterday.

Mrs Angeline Munyeriwa, for the State, said Konson and Miss Ncube began their relationship in 2011 and in January 2012, he had opened a grocery shop for her, which he also helped her run.

But in July last year, Miss Ncube told Konson that she wanted to end the relationship and he had tried to persuade her to change her mind on several occasions without success.

On 10 September last year, Konson allegedly went to Jotsholo Police Station and appealed for help in solving the dispute between him and Miss Ncube, telling the police that their quarrel was over a business deal.

Konson was assigned a police officer, Constable Wisdom Matupire, to accompany him to Tshongogwe Business Centre where he clashed with Miss Ncube.

The prosecution says Konson then pulled out a CZ 6.35mm pistol and shot Miss Ncube twice, killing her instantly.
Justice Lawrence Kamocha will be the trial judge. Konson, who is charged with murder, has not entered a plea.
