JM Nkomo Cup semis venue moved

ZIFA Southern Region has moved today’s semi-finals of the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Invitational Cup from Luveve Stadium to Hartsfield Ground as their preferred venue hosts a Premiership match between Tsholotsho FC and FC Platinum.

Organisers of the tournament have decided to have a double header, which will see Southern Region Division One League champions, Bulawayo Chiefs, playing against Matabeleland North Under-20 before the Talen Vision and Bulawayo Under-20 select encounter.

Juma Phiri, a member of the tournament’s organising committee said: “The venue for the final has been moved from Luveve to Hartsfield after Tsholotsho FC decided to play their league match at Luveve Stadium. We hope football lovers will come and watch the games. The first match starts at 12PM with the second game at 3PM.”

Matabeleland North Under-20 select booked their place in the Trukumb Mining Enterprises sponsored tournament after walking over Casmyn, who didn’t turn up for their scheduled game. Chiefs beat ZPC Hwange 5-4 in a penalty shootout after the teams were deadlocked 1-1 in regulation time.

Talen Vision beat Indlovu Iyanyathela 2-1 and Bulawayo Under-20 select beat Black Boots 4-3 in a shootout after their game had ended 2-2.

Winners of the competition will take home $2 400, with the runners-up getting $1 500. Losing semi-finalists will each walk away with $700.

League champions, Chiefs, are favourites to lift the title and are likely to face Talen Vision in the final.
