THE Joshua Nkomo National Foundation (JNNF) will tomorrow host a fundraising dinner aimed at raising more than $15,000 for the preservation of the late Father Zimbabwe, Dr Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo’s legacy. JNNF chairman Jabulani Hadebe said the money would be used to rehabilitate Dr Nkomo’s Museum and digitalise some of his work.

“We want to raise a minimum of $15,000. Individuals will pay $50 while tables for 10 are going for $500.
“The money raised will be used to improve the Joshua Nkomo Museum and also assist in the gathering of information on his life,” he said.
Hadebe said the fundraising would coincide with Dr Nkomo’s birthday.

“A lot of people know that Umdala died on July 1, but a few know about his date of birth. He was born on July 7, 1917. We thought it wise to fundraise on his birthday so that we also celebrate his life,” he said.

Hadebe challenged the nation to support the JNNF saying this was an opportunity to honour the man who dedicated his entire life to emancipate the country.

He said the fundraising dinner was going to be graced by the Senior Minister of State in the President’s Office, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo.
Dr Nkomo died on July, 1, 1999 and was buried at the National Heroes Acre.

The event will be held at the Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel.
