female journalist in Bulawayo with HIV.
The legislator was reported at Bulawayo Central Police Station last Friday for deliberately infecting the journalist with HIV during a two-year love stint.
Although our Bulawayo Bureau could not get police comment on the matter, it had it on good authority that the case was reported and a docket was opened – I/R Number 4944/11.
In an interview on Saturday, the journalist said she was shocked when she found out after going for an HIV test that she was now HIV positive.
She confirmed having made a police report to the effect that the legislator deliberately infected her with the virus.
The journalist said she also reported that the politician insulted her over the phone after she disclosed to him that she had tested positive.
“Yes, I made a report yesterday (last Friday) at Bulawayo Central Police Station to the effect that . . . (name supplied) deliberately infected me with HIV. I am quite sure that he is the one because when I started dating him in August 2009, I had tested negative in October the same year.
“He is the only person I was intimate with up to the time of our split on 31 July last year after discovering that he was cheating on me with a nurse at Ingutsheni Hospital.
“I did not sleep with anyone since then. It is, therefore, only logical for me to say he is the one who infected me with the virus.
“At the time we were in love, he never bothered to disclose to me that he was once married and that he lost his wife some years back,” she said.
She added that the politician was a flirt who was not honest during the time of their relationship – hence her opting out.
“When I discovered that I was HIV-positive, I sent him a message in which he responded by insulting me. He said ‘do you know my status, you prostitute?’ and I reported it to the police so that he can also be charged with insulting me over the telephone under the Posts and Telecommunications Act,” said the journalist.
She added that the MP accused her of being an agent of the Central Intelligence Organisation saying she was working with them to fix him and drag him into the mud so that he loses his seat come election time.
When contacted for comment, the MP confirmed having had an affair with the journalist but said the affair ended two years ago.
He would not disclose his status.
“I know there are about 10 people who are out there to fix me. It’s a planned issue and I know where it was planned.
“They have an agenda to fix me and she is being used as an agent of the CIO. I do not think she is normal, she is mad and I will sue to the last cent. She did not even tell me that she has tested positive and I am getting it from the people she told,” said the legislator.
