A GROUP of selected journalists has begun a pre-Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo familiarisation tour across Manicaland, exploring the province’s top attractions ahead of the prestigious event set for September 10–12 at Mutare Sports Club.
Organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry in partnership with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), the tour offers media professionals a first-hand experience of Manicaland’s rich natural and cultural heritage—enhancing their ability to report compellingly and credibly on Zimbabwe’s tourism offering.
Stops on the itinerary include Honde Valley, Mtarazi Falls, Vumba, and Nyanga. Known for its birdlife and scenic tea estates, Honde Valley is a haven for birders and nature lovers, home to species such as the lesser seedcracker, red-throated twinspot, and red-winged warbler.
Now in its 18th edition, the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi Expo is Africa’s premier tourism marketplace, attracting local and international players to network, showcase, and promote the continent’s best. This year’s theme is “Devolving Sustainable Tourism Development – Our Future”.Marking a milestone, Manicaland is hosting the expo for the first time, aligning with the Government’s devolution agenda. From the lush Bvumba Highlands to the awe-inspiring Mtarazi Falls—the second highest in Africa—the province is poised to shine on the global tourism stage.
