Club Joy Centre has brought exciting entertainment to Highfield and surrounding suburbs. An open space that has hosted an array of musicians, both upcoming and established, the venue has managed to bring excitement and thrills. Battling musicians have found solace at the venue, with Paradzai Mesi, Taruvinga “Sugar Sugar” Manjokota getting a platform to return from obscurity.
Mesi, who had hit hard times, had his welcome show at the venue recently with most promoters coming after his signature. It is the same case with upcoming artistes like Mbeu, Andy Muridzo and Sasha just to mention a few who have managed to make their names from the same joint. Joy Centre proprietor David Mudzudzu said he managed to acquire a state of the art PA system, making it easy for the musicians to meet their fans.
“Most of the musicians have difficulties in hiring PA systems so we have ours,” he said. Mudzudzu said he has passion for music, especially from the upcoming artists.”We need to assist them as promoters so that they push their works forward. I don’t select musicians to work with because we need to support all of them from different genres.” The joint has become so popular that it attracts crowds of various age groups. Mudzudzu said they have come up with tight security measures to protect patrons from hooligans.
“We have beefed up our security especially the parking area. We have tried to make the joint a place to be,. He has hailed several organisations including the Zimbabwe Business and Arts Hub for supporting the joint. Zibah has managed to come up with ideas that take the musicians and us promoters forward.” he said
