JP, MAKHADZI HEADLINE JOZI GIG

Blessed Katiyo in JOHANNESBURG

AFTER an aborted show in April due to fears of thunderstorms, Jah Prayzah and his 3rd Generation band make their 2022 debut South African performance, in two weeks’ time.

The camp is set to perform in Johannesburg at a show that will also feature Venda music goddess, Makhadzi.

The open-air event will be held at the Midrange Country Club in Midrand on September 3.

The gig comes at a time when the country has stepped into the spring season.

Socialite Madam Boss will also be in attendance to mix and mingle with her South Africa-based fans.

Spokesperson of the organisers of the show, Gauteng North Promotions (GNP), has assured fans that this will be one of the biggest ever family shows they have ever hosted.

It has been dubbed the “Joburg Family BBQ”.

Zimbabwean fans in South Africa have been on an entertainment “drought” due to the high costs of bringing in live performers to the country.

This show will be attended by different nationalities as it features two of the best performers in both countries.

“It was unfortunate that in April we had to cancel the show as authorities feared that the harsh weather conditions were not conducive.

“We have been given the green-light and everything has been finalised with all the artists that will feature on the day,” said Niederer “Mhofela” Mupamhadzi, on behalf of GNP.

Over 400 people lost their lives in South Africa due to floods, which swept through the country and mainly ravished the KZN province.

The gig will be a family show and will start with performances from as early as 10am and shuts down very late.

“We know Jah Prayzah and Makhadzi command a very huge following across all genders and age groups.

“We have decided to make this a daytime show to ensure that even kids can take part in this once-in-a-while show.

“We urge fans to come early as we need to ensure that the kids get to enjoy it as well,” added Mupamhadzi.

Among other festivities will be a braai party as well as kids’ entertainment areas.

“As a family event, we have ensured parking is ample and security is top notch.

“Music lovers are free to bring their camping chairs and we have made arrangements to ensure that all ages are catered for in terms of food and drinks,” added Mupamhadzi.

Urban groover, Nox Guni, will be part of the line-up and will be looking forward to serenading his fans with his love ballads.

Ndombolo lovers will also have a chance to gyrate to the beats of underrated yet vastly talented Courage Central and his live band.

There will be a number of wheel spinners, among them top DJs Mr Gee, Firespitter, Badman, Mbare Boys, DJ Wenera and DJ Irie Dread. The company has also engaged top MCs for the day in Abra Simz and Rico Myers.

Tickets are already on sale at Ticketpro as the price will rise from the current R250 to R300. Kids will pay R150.
