THE Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation between Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea is a major milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between the two Republics, a senior Government official has said.
Giving remarks at the Senior Officials’ Meeting held in Harare as a precursor to the JPCC signing ceremony, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ambassador Albert Chimbindi said: “The JPCC is a testimony to our shared desire to strengthen our bilateral relations.”

Equatorial Guinea’s President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo is expected in Zimbabwe for a three-day State visit.
Said Ambassador Chimbindi: “We firmly believe that the JPCC is the cornerstone of bilateral relations, providing a structured platform for dialogue, coordination and the advancement of mutually beneficial initiatives across a wide range of sectors.
“The success of our deliberations depends on the timely and effective implementation of agreed commitments. We must be accountable and ensure sustained follow-through to translate shared intentions into tangible results and measurable benefits for both nations.
“I am happy to note that our special relations came from afar and are reinforced by high-level exchanges.
“They are characterised by tangible cooperation in some key sectors such as education, wildlife conservation and management, defence and security. We remain indebted to the Government and the people of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea for extending a generous fuel facility to Zimbabwe.
“This facility came at a time when our economy was stymied by illegal and arbitrary sanctions imposed on our country by some Western countries. We shall remain grateful in that regard.”

Ambassador Chimbindi was represented by Chief Director in his Ministry, Mr Pearson Chigiji.
He co-chaired the Seniors Officers’ Meeting with General Secretary of Equatorial Guinea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Matias Nguema Mba Media.
