JUDICIAL managers that had been tasked to resuscitate ailing Bulawayo firms have failed to perform with some companies going as much 15 years without any positive progress.

The managers have since been summoned to the office of Minister of State Provincial Affairs Bulawayo Metropolitan Province to discuss challenges they have faced.

Bulawayo has suffered over the past years, as hundreds of companies have closed down due to various economic challenges leading to some being placed under the watch of judicial managers.

In an interview, Minister of State Provincial Affairs Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Cde Judith Ncube said judicial managers had let the city down.

“I have invited some of the judicial managers to my office, the managers are saying they had hoped that immediately after my appointment they expected Government to put some funding so that they would have been in a position to resuscitate the companies but because there was no funding to that effect they found the going very difficult.

“However, they should have advised the Government that they could not revive these factories than to leave the workers on the hanging side,” she said.

Cde Ncube said there was a need to come up with a solution as the situation was also affecting workers.

“We are going to submit a full report soon of the happenings. Per week I attend to approximately 50 people talking about the same thing of judicial management. Last week over 30 workers came to my office and they said they were in the ninth year and were expecting that to get something from the company and they only discovered that the person who was managing the company had sold machines and the building,” she said.

Cde Ncube said the workers were still expecting the companies to re-open.

She added that some judicial managers have over the years not consulted with the Government or gave an update on why they had failed to revive the companies.

“I invited them for a meeting and I am waiting for them, we want to see them.”
