HIGHLANDERS Football Club are likely to send Julius Daudi back to Namibian Premier League team FNB XI to complete his contract.
The Namibian side complained that the player had left without seeing his contract through.
Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede confirmed that they had since discovered that the player was still contracted to FNB XI.
“I can confirm for a fact that Daudi is contracted to the Namibian club. We contacted them and they said that the boy had not completed his contract,” said Gumede.
The Bosso chief executive officer said FNB XI had given Highlanders a discount on the transfer fee which he could not disclose.
Gumede said because of the club’s poor financial position, they opted that he returns to Namibia and then come back as a free agent.
“With our current financial situation at Highlanders I cannot really be certain if we can keep the player or not. It is either Daudi goes back and completes his contract which means he can join the club during the mid-season or the club runs around and raises money to buy him from FNB XI,” said Gumede.
He said the discounted figure that the Namibian side had offered Bosso was reasonable but the club did not have the funds to pay for Daudi’s outstanding salaries.
“The Namibian side gave us a reasonable discount, but I am not sure if we can afford to pay them the outstanding fees on the player’s contract,” he said.
