June target for Mutare RG’s offices

THE construction of the Civil Registry’s Manicaland provincial headquarters is expected to be completed by June to pave way for the issuance of civil registration documents in Mutare.

This was revealed early this week as the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza toured the two-storey building that is currently under construction in the eastern border city.

The construction process of the Civil Registry’s Manicaland provincial headquarters started in August last year and is already halfway.

“We are here to see the progress in the construction of the Manicaland provincial headquarters of the Civil Registry. This is an exciting development for the people of Manicaland Province.

“We are witnessing the good and life changing work of the new dispensation. In the past, people who wanted to get new civil registration documents were referred back to where they initially took the documents, meaning someone would have to travel back to Chipinge, for example, to get that.

“This will now be a thing of the past. Everything will be centrally located here. We are happy that construction of this building started not so long ago, but it is already halfway through. This project will ease our burden, and we are all looking forward to accessing good services here,” said Minister Mugadza.

“So far, e-passports are being issued in Chipinge, but upon the completion of this building, we are looking forward to having e-passports being issued here.”

In tandem with the Second Republic’s ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’ mantra, a local contractor, Homely Habitats, is carrying out the construction work.

Homely Habitats foreman, Mr Orlando Sonizi said: “We started work on August 11 last year, and we are looking forward to completing this project by June this year. We are now on the deck level, which is halfway.

“In a week or two, we should have completed the brickwork for the upper part of the building and other engineering works will commence,” said Mr Sonizi.
