THE Harare City Junior Council recently conducted a blood donation campaign at a medical centre in the city to help save lives.
They did so in partnership with the National Blood Service Zimbabwe (NBSZ).
Junior councillors who included Atupele Phiri, Thabo Masuku, Damien Mambudu, Kudakwashe Tamwa, Tawananyasha Makusha and Munashe Kanengoni showed the way by donating blood.
Parents, learners, friends and community members attended the event.
One of the nurses present was impressed with the number of councillors who exhibited commitment to saving lives by donating blood.
NBSZ’s motto is “Life is in the blood”, which captures its core value of providing the gift of life to those who need it.
Many people are expected to donate blood to boost the bank levels.
Junior councillors are also motivating fellow learners in schools to participate in the initiative.
The junior council is made up of some of the brightest minds in Harare, who deliberate on crucial matters while attempting to find solutions to problems youths are facing in and around the capital.
The junior council plans to embark on more projects that will impact the city and assist those in need.
All that is required is the support of residents.
