He said this during a clean-up campaign held at Makoni Shopping Centre.
Hongoro also challenged them to desist from corrupt activities that have crippled health standards in the satellite town.
The campaign was cascaded to a number of places including the bus terminus, shopping complex, clinic and surrounding areas. The
gist of the campaign was to raise awareness on youth development, empowerment and participation.
His Worship Junior Mayor Hongoro said nation building calls for a collective approach by engaging different stakeholders.
“Let’s Work Together”
“In my view, this is when people come together in doing the best for their country. The country is going through a political and
economic meltdown and this means we should work collectively in nation building despite our political affiliations,” he said.
His Worship Hongoro also took a swipe at the City Fathers who are watching the city collapsing without taking any action.
“The City Fathers have failed in bringing sanity in terms of service delivery. We have noted that especially here in Chitungwiza, it has become
worrisome resulting to the outbreak of many diseases that are being reported.
“They should admit they have failed, but we as Junior Parliamentarians could not sit and watch our town in such a mess.
“We are striving to restore the status quo by bringing sanity everywhere, even Harare itself should attain its status of ‘Sunshine City’ ahead of the UNTWO General
Assembly which just just around the corner,” he said.
The Junior Mayor was quick to point that corruption in the council has rendered its service delivery weak and almost non-existent.
