Junk food is not good for you

Chiedza Matenga
Candy, French fries, sodas, twinkies, ice-cream, fried chicken, pizza, milkshakes, whipped cream, doritos and hot dogs are some of the goodies that teens crave for particularly this season as it gets hotter by the day. This is not just junk food but a faster and closer way to death. Youths of today are not concerned about their health the way they worry about their cellphones.
They grab the nearest snack to them and it is definitely not an orange.

If one carries a lunch box to school, it rarely has wholewheat bread and butter but it is filled with French fries and fried chicken with a soda pop by the side. This is “the lunch” and what happens after? Your body cannot possibly contain the fat.

It is not that you cannot eat such foods but once in a while, it’s allowed. Have the power to limit unhealthy foods when appetite overcomes.
Twinkies, coke and other fizzy drinks carry too much sugar and no one knows but this is the order of the day.

Junk foods are like the in-thing among the youth and selling more than carrots, cauliflower, grapefruit and many more fruits and vegetables. Vegetables are never appealing to the youths despite the varieties offered.

I do agree that junk food is more appetising and as such seem to taste better than regular diet that is healthier but sometimes we have got to consider how long healthy foods can help us.

One of the most inspirational women in Zimbabwe, Pastor Bonnie Deuschle, is known for encouraging the youths to take healthy foods such as carrot juice and urged to abstain from fizzy drinks in order to stay healthy and most probably live longer.

Some of the foods we crave for, like chocolate, cannot be burnt down by fire which is able to melt down iron. Not only does this candy bar carry too much sugar, it is dangerous!!! This is a video that is a slap in the face isn’t it?

Apart from the choc bar being fire resistant, the fizzy drinks contain 33 percent of sugars and this may be the highest amount of drink you take.
Now transform this into cups, consider the amount of cups in a two-litre container.

What you eat helps your body, soul and mind. A healthy body does much more than the one undernourished or fed with wrong stuff. Furthermore, healthy eating boosts the mind to become sharp.

Also the fact that salt, sugar and oil are somewhat the contributors to poor health spells out that longer lives are sustained by good eating habits. Do not delay, watch what you eat.

The body requires vitamins and minerals to grow and exercise is equally important. Avoid skipping meals because the tendency to eat double portions cannot be ruled out.

Become responsible for your actions, start eating healthy and stay alive and remember being correct does not violate a collection of form.
