JUST IN: Falcon College Mad Dogs too good for CBC Hornets

THE Falcon College Mad Dogs completed a double over the Christian Brothers College Hornets with resounding victory at CBC on Saturday.

Falcon College managed a whooping eight tries and conversions while CBC got their only points from a penalty goal.

It was Falcon College who scored first, flyhalf Joshua Cullen going over for a try with seven minutes played with the conversion by Connor MacLean successful. CBC scored their only points of the match, their number 10 Gilbert Tsikai booting in a penalty.

Cullen scored his second try after a lovely exchange in the 16^th minute but MacLean missed the conversion. Fullback Takunda Machaya went over under the posts for Falcon College’s third try of the match, the conversion booted in by MacLean. Wing Siampunga Sindaza handed Falcon College their fourth try of the match from a successful scrum, MacLean’s conversion giving them a 26-3 lead heading into halftime.

Falcon College continued with their dominance in the second half, wing Mzwandile Mabuza planting the ball over the line, MacLean’s successful conversion giving them 33-3 in front.

MacLean joined in on the try scoring, crossing the whitewash 10 minutes after the break and went on to book in the conversion.

Hooker Tadiwanashe Mabhudhu scored under the posts for Falcon College’s seventh try of the match 12 minutes after the restart, MacLean making sure with the conversion. Tinomukudza Chipfumbu scored a try soon after coming in as a replacement and MacLean kicked his seventh conversion for his team to record a well deserved victory.

Falcon College had to play without two of their Under-18 Coca-Cola Craven Week headed key players, lock Darren King and centre Lebohang Mokuele who were both injured.

In other schools rugby matches played on Saturday, Kyle College beat Lomagundi 48-13, Saint George’s College edged Peterhouse 19-12, Eaglesvale were 18-15 victorious over Hillcrest while Prince Edward completed a double over Churchill with a 31-20 triumph.

At Hartsfield, it was not a good outing for Bulawayo teams in the Intercity Rugby League Highlanders beaten 51-0 by Police Defenders while Old Miltonians were beaten 25-8 by Old Georgians. Old Johanians drubbed Gweru Sports Club 49-17 in a match played at OGs.
