JUST IN: Harare launches blitz on illegal vendors

Harare City Council has launched a blitz against illegal vendors in the central business district in a move expected to bring sanity in the capital.

During a full council meeting last night at Town House, councillors blasted management’s lethargic approach to solving some of the challenges affecting Harare, including the vendor menace. Councillors raised a red flag over the increase of illegal vendors selling wild loquats (mazhanje) from the back of their trucks and other wares.

Acting chamber secretary Mr Charles Kandemiri promised to launch a massive blitz against the vendors.

“Indeed, I have taken note of the issue of vendors, they should be removed from the CBD starting tomorrow (today),” he said.
