JUST IN: Major pipe burst triggers water shortages in Beitbridge

Thupeyo Muleya

Serious water shortages have resurfaced in Beitbridge town where a major pipe burst on the mainline that supplies the whole town has resulted in taps running dry for over two days.

The hardest hit people are those residing in western suburbs (Dulivhadzimo South and North), CBD, referral hospital, the border post and light industries.

The town requires at least 15 000 mega litres of water daily for a population of 60 000.

Residents who have installed boreholes in their properties are making brisk business from the water crisis, selling 100 litres of water for between R100 and R150.
