JUST IN – Mamombe and gang not in custody – police

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has denied social media reports alleging that the police are having in custody three MDC-A youth members who participated in a demonstration on Wednesday afternoon in Warren Park, Harare.

In a statement yesterday, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said no one was taken into custody.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police dismisses all social media reports insinuating that the police have detained or has custody of some MDC Alliance members,” read part of the statement.

“Some MDC Alliance members including Johanna Mamombe, Obey Sithole, Ostallous Siziba, Stanley Manyenga and Justin Chidziva were involved in an illegal flash demonstration in Warren Park, Harare on 13th May 2020.
