JUST IN: National Hero Cde Mpofu Byo send off

A FUNERAL service for National Hero Cde Moses Mpofu was held at the Doves Funeral Service parlour in Bulawayo on Friday afternoon before his body was airlifted to Harare for burial on Saturday.

Cde Mpofu, a former police deputy commissioner, will buried at the National Heroes acre in Harare.

Family members, Government officials including Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Judith Ncube attended the service.

The service was held in line with Covid-19 regulations as no body viewing was conducted while only a limited number of people participated.

After the brief service, Cde Mpofu’s body was taken to his home in Mahatshula South where another short service was held.

The body was airlifted by an Airforce helicopter from Mzilikazi Barracks.
