JUST IN: Retailers call on citizens to embrace vaccination

The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) has urged Zimbabweans to get vaccinated, saying it was the only proven solution in protecting the health of the nation.

In a statement today, CZR president Mr Denford Mutashu implored retailers, wholesalers and general businesses to allow their employees an opportunity to be vaccinated.

“While the vaccine remains voluntary, CZR however advises the public to get the jab as the country looks at achieving the expected head immunity,” said CZR president Mr Denford Mutashu.

He also expressed concern over the general lack of adherence to stipulated Government and World Health Organisation Covid-19 regulations by certain sections of business and the public.

Mr Mutashu said in highly populated places, safety precautions such as wearing of face masks, sanitisation, social distancing and disinfection of both public and private facilities are not observed.

“This is a worrying trend that may see the country reverting to a yet another tighter lockdown extension sooner rather than later. “Therefore, the responsibility to contain the spread of the pandemic lies with you, with me and with all of us. Let’s remain vigilant and actively participate on the battlefront in the fight against the pandemic,” said Mr Mutashu.

A number of high profile citizens, including President Mnangagwa, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and top religious leaders, have already been vaccinated.
