JUST IN: Team Zimbabwe leaves for the World Para Athletics Grand Prix

The Zimbabwe Paralympics team left today for the Dubai 2021 World Para Athletics Grand Prix.

The Grand Prix, which is also a qualifying competition for the Tokyo Paralympics Games, runs from February 6 to 14.

The athletes are still chasing qualification to Tokyo after missing out some events due to Covid-19 lockdown.

All the players tested negative in their latest Covid tests after spending a week in a bubble in Harare.

The athletes a majority of them rookies at the international stage were excited and vowed to fly the country’s flag high.

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Tinoda Machakaire, is the head of Team Zimbabwe’s delegation in Dubai.

The Chef de Mission, Ignatius Vambe, is already in Dubai.
