JUST IN: Two more Covid-19 deaths

THE country has reported two more Covid-19 related deaths and 19 new cases in the last 24-hours bringing the total number of cases to 36 684.

The two new deaths were recorded in Bulawayo and the Midlands provinces.

The vaccination programme is continuing in static sites countrywide with 43 294 people having received their first dose while 280 got the second dose as of yesterday.

The seven-day rolling average for new cases remained at 26 yesterday.

All the 19 new cases are local transmissions.

So far, the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in Zimbabwe now stands at 1 514 while the national recovery rate stands at 93,5 percent.

A total of 2 342 PCR tests were conducted yesterday and positivity was 0,8 percent.

As of March 21, 2021, at 3PM, there were 54 people who were hospitalised of which two patients were admitted in intensive care units (ICU) while 21 had mild to moderate symptoms. Eleven had severe symptoms while 20 were asymptomatic.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, the highest number of eight cases was recorded in Bulawayo followed by Harare with seven cases.

Manicaland recorded two cases while the Midlands and Mashonaland Central recorded one case each.

“As of March 22, 2021, Zimbabwe, has now recorded 36 684 confirmed cases, 34 315 recoveries and 1 514 deaths,” reads the statement.

“Forty-six new recoveries were reported and the national recovery rate stands at 93,5 percent and active case go down to 855 today.”
So far, Bulawayo province has recorded 5 425 cases 5 117 recoveries, 98 active cases and 210 deaths.
