ZSE Holdings group chief executive Mr Justin Bgoni has been appointed vice president of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA), marking a significant milestone for Zimbabwe’s capital markets on the continental stage.
African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) is the premier non-profit trade association representing the interests of securities exchanges across the African continent.
Established in 1993 in Nairobi, Kenya, ASEA works to unlock the potential of African capital markets, drive financial integration, and enhance the global competitiveness of its member exchanges
The appointment, effective October 2, 2026, comes at a time as exchanges across Africa actively seek to deepen collaboration, enhance inter-exchange liquidity, and harmonise cross-border investment frameworks through initiatives like the African Exchanges Linkage Project (AELP).
Mr Bgoni leads ZSE Holdings, which owns Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE), the foreign currency-denominated Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX) and the Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange (ZEEX).
He also serves as the interim CEO of the Victoria Falls International Financial Centre.
In his new role, Mr Bgoni will work alongside ASEA’s executive leadership to drive strategic priorities, scale African capital markets globally, and foster technology-driven market infrastructure.
“I am deeply honored to step into the role of vice president of the African Securities Exchanges Association,” said Mr Bgoni.
“Capital markets have a pivotal role to play in unlocking economic growth, facilitating sustainable investments, and strengthening regional connectivity across Africa.
“I look forward to working closely with our president, member exchanges and regional partners to accelerate capital mobility and deliver tailored financial infrastructure solutions that meet Africa’s distinct market opportunities.
“With over 24 years of international finance and executive leadership experience, Mr Bgoni has previously served as chief financial officer of the New Zealand Stock Exchange, a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and director of private equity at First National Bank (FNB) in South Africa.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe (ICAZ) and a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), Mr Bgoni holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science from UNISA and a Master of Finance from the University of Wellington, New Zealand
