The juvenile (name withheld because of his age) comes from Makhasa village under Chief Fuyana in Kezi.
He used shoelaces to hang himself in a bedroom hut on Friday at about 8pm.
Acting police spokesperson for Matabeleland South Province Sergeant Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident and said police did not suspect foul play in the issue.
“Ndabezinhle Mpofu (22) accompanied by a minor, went to look for the juvenile at his homestead suspecting that he stole their money and some watermelons.
“They couldn’t find him but they found his uncle Mr Zwelithini Ncube (32) and narrated the story to him,” said Sgt Mangena.
She said Mpofu and the minor then proceeded to Malubu Village where they found the boy.
“They found the boy at Malubu village and then took him home. His family members asked him about allegations that were laid against him but he denied,” she said.
Sgt Mangena said the boy’s uncle and Mpofu then resolved to report the matter at Maphisa Police Station.
“After Ncube and his family had had their supper, the boy went to rest in his hut, accompanied by his uncle who left him there and returned to the kitchen.
“After 10 minutes, Ncube went back to the boy’s hut and found him dead, hanging by shoe laces,” she said.
The matter was reported to the police and a post-mortem was waived as no foul play was suspected.
Sgt Mangena urged members of the public to desist from drastic measures when faced with problems.
“I urge all members of the public to desist from considering drastic measures as solutions to their problems. When faced with problems please seek advice from elders, organisations such as Musasa Project or nearest police officers,” she said.
