A HIGH-POWERED delegation from Italian giants Juventus is coming to Harare next month for a youth football talent search in which hundreds of the country’s exciting young stars will get a chance to impress the scouts.
Organisers of the visit believe this will provide footballers, between the ages of three and 17, with their best possible chance to make an impression which could change their lives forever.
Agripa Guta’s City Academy have gone into bed with Yadah Sports Academy to host hundreds of ambitious young footballers, who will be housed at the Yadah Hotel, in probably the biggest football talent search held in this country.
Five fields are being prepared at the Yadah Hotel for the exercise.
The officials, who are set to visit, are Fahim Hamza Wahiri, head of elite goalkeeping at the Juventus Academy Oman, David Rizzoli, the club’s technical director and Marcos Dergotes the Area marketing director.
“It’s a huge privilege to be visiting Zimbabwe this summer in August,” said Wahiri.
“Once again we say thanks to you Prophet Walter Magaya and City Academy for making all this happen.
“We look forward to seeing all the young boys and girls that Zimbabwe has to offer and we hope that it’s gonna be a successful trip for us.
“We hope we can scout some talented boys and girls in the country.”
Prophet Magaya, who is running his own talent search, said this was a massive opportunity for the game.
“The brilliance of Agripa Guta from City Academy has managed to put up a partnership with Yadah Sports Academy for this endeavour,” he said.
“We are looking forward to hosting Juventus, it shall be part of efforts to create a sports economy in our nation.
“We are looking at ages between three and 17, we believe we have a powerful force, which has been created in the country, by these trials.
“We believe that the brilliance of Mr Agripa Guta will not go unnoticed because he is the one who has pulled the strings and we shall host these visitors at the Yadah Hotel and create five pitches for the exercise.”
City Academy already have a relationship with Juventus which saw Zimbabwean teen, Shingirai Elvis Chayanzika, signing a long-term five-year deal with the Italian giants.
The Academy spent three weeks in Italy.
