police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Petros Masikati confirmed the death of Levison Kache of Yemurai Village under Chief Matope. He said Kache died on his way home from the beer drink.
Asst Insp Masikati said Kache left home and went for a beer drink in the village. The well-known kachasu guzzler in the village did not return home on the fateful day.
This prompted his elder brother Tavhu to search for him, but without succe ss.
A fellow villager Marvellous Kamudyariwa who was fetching firewood discovered Kache’s body in the bush the following day with a container of kachasu besides it.
Kamudyariwa reported the matter at Mount Darwin Police Station and police took the body to the mortuary at Mount Darwin Hospital for post-mortem.
The post mortem report revealed that Kache died as a result of taking excessive kachasu, according to police.
Police have warned people to desist from brewing and drinking kachasu.
