Tino Kadewere said he gives glory to God after he made history by becoming the first Zimbabwean player to score in the Spanish La Liga.
Kadewere also made his first start for Real Mallorca in their game against Villareal on Saturday.
“It was a great game and I am happy I played and scored in that game.
“To become the first Zimbabwean to score in La Liga is something. I’m grateful to God for this opportunity. I can’t take credit for it.
“Winning the game was amazing. It was all because of team effort and I enjoyed the game. It’s always fun to win,” he said.
Kadewere had only featured in the league as a substitute since recovering from an injury which kept him out of action in the opening part of the season. He joined Mallorca on a season’s loan from Ligue 1 club Lyon.
Saturday’s goal is his second of the campaign, having scored his first for Mallorca in the Copa Del Rey in November.
“Getting a goal was really amazing because this is where the confidence comes from, and trying to score in any game that you play is very important.
“It is my hope that I will score more goals this season. My target for the season is to just try and help the team achieve its goals for this season otherwise the rest is in God’s hands,” he said.
