Kadoma open for business – Mayor

Mayor Councillor Peter Matambo said this at the just-ended two-day business seminar for small to medium enterprises in Kadoma.
“We want our people, especially the youths, to be equipped with sound economic skills and create opportunities for themselves.
“We appeal to international organisations to come and partner with our local community-based organisations for the development of the city,” he said.
He added that the City of Kadoma has great opportunities for investors and the council is there to facilitate and enable investors to realise a return on their investment.
“As Kadoma City we are ready to engage with serious investors and are encouraging partnership with the local authority,” he said.
Also speaking at the same event, United States-based Empire Construction founding member Mr Steve Hall encouraged the SMEs to build their companies on a strong foundation that will make extend their lifespan.
“There is no secret to success in business but the most important thing to note is having a strong foundation combined with integrity.
“The customers want to do business with someone they can trust that is a guarantee that they want to keep doing business with you thus growing your business at the same time,” he said.
When starting up a business, he said it was also important to learn to put a business plan together.
“Young people of today are very enthusiastic when starting up their businesses to the extent that they forget to plan properly and this leads to foreclosures as the companies will not be adequately capitalised.
“If one makes a proper business plan you do not lose money on paper but through jumping into actions without thinking things through,” said Mr Hall.
