KADOMA City Council has set aside $3 million to upgrade sewer waste management systems and improve service delivery in the city. The project is set be completed by year end. In an interview with The Herald, Kadoma acting town clerk Mr Willard Mangwengwende said the project was progressing smoothly.
“As part of improving our service delivery we have started upgrading our waste water management system, in particular the rehabilitation of sewage treatment plants and reticulation network around the city,” said Mr Mangwengwende.
“The project includes fabricating coupling, pins and installation of raw sewer pumps and complete construction of the inlet chamber at CSC ponds. The procurement, installation and commissioning of a transformer at Rimuka Sewage Works.” Mr Mangwengwende said Kadoma was also targeting the rehabilitation of the water pumping system by year end at a cost of $5 million. He said the local authority will also see the repair, installation and commissioning of return water pump and rehabilitation of dosing equipment.
He said council was looking forward to boosting water supply in Wards 3 and 8. Kadoma is also servicing 5 700 residential stands under the Victory Park Housing Project in a bid to reduce the city’s housing backlog.
The project will cost $24 million.
