Kadoma’s memorable Christmas

RESIDENTS of Kadoma had a Christmas to remember after proprietors of the famous and  most loved Luna Park, Family Amusement Park, dedicated this year’s festive season to providing entertainment to the city.

The Luna Park has been stationed at the Kadoma Sports Club and will continue running until next month.

Last year, Family Amusement Park dedicated the entire Christmas period and the Easter holidays to the people of Bulawayo.

Luna Park is the only mobile leisure-ride centre in Zimbabwe with its operators moving to a new location seasonally.

Established in the 1970s, the Luna Park has always been a favourite of many, from children to adults. With joyrides such as jets, the Ferris wheel and the roller coaster, the Luna Park is definitely the go to place for quality family time.

In an interview, Family Amusement Park managing director, Mr Witness Chihota said he is thrilled to have had the amusement park operating from Kadoma adding that they would continue to provide quality services to the city well into January.

“We are pleased to have spent the entire festive season with the people of Kadoma and their families. It had been quite some time since we last settled in the city due to our demanding schedule hence this time we will dedicate all our services to the city until January,” said Mr Chihota.

He said the sports club is accommodating all their joy rides with abundant space to hold large crowds.

“We chose the Kadoma Sports Club because it’s big and can accommodate large crowds of people, which has been advantageous to us since we had a number of joy rides lined up for the festive season. We have rockets, the big wheel, boats, shells, trains, jumping castles as well as other activities such as canoes, photo shoots, trampolines and many others for families to come and enjoy themselves.

“The club will not limit families to these activities but there will also be space for them to mingle and host their picnics there, bring their cooler boxes and have their braais there as well,” said Mr Chihota.

Family Amusement Park is also giving back to the community through sponsorship to local orphanages to bring children for a good time at the Luna Park.

“Christmas is a season of giving and we thought it would be the perfect time to give back to the community, at the same time appreciating the people that support our business. We called on local orphanages to bring their children so that we could enjoy Christmas with them,” said Mr Chihota.

After their stint in Kadoma,  Mr Chihota said the amusement park would be moving to Kwekwe where they look forward to drawing large crowds.

Luna Park is most popular during the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo, a period around April where the proprietors station their leisure machines close to the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC) for the convenience of those who would have visited the annual trade showcase.
