HARARE’S newly-elected deputy mayor, Kudzai Kadzombe, has pledged to work towards making the city safe and prosperous.
She also aims to promote gender equality and empower women in leadership positions.
Kadzombe acknowledged the challenges that women face in politics and public life and promised to work towards ensuring that women’s voices are heard and valued in decision-making processes.
She said she will work closely with the mayor, councillors, executive, residents and stakeholders to achieve her goals.
“As the newly elected deputy mayor, I am committed to working tirelessly to promote sound local governance and undertaking development to enhance the socio-economic development of our city,” said Kadzombe.
She believes that Harare has great potential and she will work hard to ensure it regains its sunshine status.
“I will work to ensure that our city is a place where everyone can thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.
“I will work to ensure that women’s voices are heard and their contributions are valued. I am happy that we have 14 female councillors who were elected through the women’s quota.
“This means we are now 21 female councillors and we will collaborate to ensure gender equality and enhance gender responsive service delivery.”
