Kahwema eyes regional market

TELEVISION presenter Precious Kahwema, formerly Mthunzi, has her eye set on the regional market with her new album titled “Tofara”.
The 11-track album that was recorded at Monolio Studios is nothing short of quality, from its instrumentals to lyrical content.
Kahwema, who is no stranger in the music sector, has also backed for the likes of Pastor Lawrence Haisa in her early music career.
“I worked on this album since April and emphasis has always been on quality because I am hoping to take it beyond the country’s borders. I am targeting for airplay on regional gospel shows like One Gospel in South Africa. My aim is to minister to all those who are going to hear my music so the further it goes the better,” she said.

She, however, said the delay in producing her own album was a deliberate attempt as she was waiting for the right moment.
“I came a long way from my days of being a backing vocalist. This year God elevated me to have my own album. Now is the time that he chose for me to break out. However, I have been singing in the church choir all along,” she said.

My album has a few praise songs as I was striving to make it an intimate moment with the Lord. Worship is my calling as it brings me closer to God.

Kahwema, who bares her soul on the praise and worship album, said she composed most of the songs but decided to incorporate classical hymns.

All time songs “Ndoda”, “Majesty”, “Happy Days” are modified and given a modern twist.
The rest of the songs on the album were composed by the songstress, reflecting her softer side through mellow melodies.

An official launch for the album will be held next month, where a live recording will follow. Some of the songs will be accompanied by videos that will also be availed on the day of launch.
