Kaindu arrival delayed

HIGHLANDERS coach Kelvin Kaindu was expected to arrive in Bulawayo last night after stopping over in Zambia from the United Kingdom.Contrary to reports that the Mbada Diamonds Cup winning coach arrived on Monday night, the Zambian was still on his way to Bulawayo last night, having experienced some hitches at the border post.

He ended up leaving his car in Livingstone.
“I’m still on the road as I speak to you right now. We experienced some minor problems but I should report straight to work tomorrow (today) morning,” said Kaindu.

Highlanders resume their off-season preparations today after taking a three-day rest following their week long camp in Inyathi.
He described his off-season “holiday” as very taxing after he spent much of it attending courses in his country of birth and after that he flew to the UK for his Uefa B coaching licence while in Zambia he attended a Caf A coaching licence course.

“The courses were fine really, it’s just that there was too much work with little time to relax,” said the Zambian who will lead Highlanders for the next two years having penned down a deal on December 28, 2013, three days before the expiry of his initial two-year deal signed in 2011.

Asked on the reported striker from Zambia, Kaindu said he can only make a comment after meeting the rest of the members of the Highlanders technical team who have been with the boys since the pre-season training started.

“Let me meet my technical staff first and get a report on how things have been,” he said.
There have been unconfirmed reports that the player could be Lee Ngoma, a midfielder who plays as a defensive linkman for top Zambian side Zanaco FC.

“I am hearing that for the first time from you, I however know the player very well,” said Kaindu.
Kaindu played and coached Zanaco. The Zambian arrives in time for the team’s first competitive match of the season against Harare City in the Bob90 Super Cup which is set for Barbourfields Stadium on February 16, whose winner will face Dynamos in Harare a week later.

The Bulawayo giants have been under former developmental side coach Mark “Duvillard” Mathe, former assistant coach Bekithemba Ndlovu and goalkeepers’ coach Peter “Captain Oxo” Nkomo as well as another legend Willard “Mashinkila” Khumalo who is the team’s welfare manager.
