HIGHLANDERS head coach Kelvin Kaindu is caught in the middle as Zimbabwe and Zambia clash this afternoon. The two neighbours are clashing in a repeat of the 2009 Cup final in which Zimbabwe prevailed 3-1 over Zambia and today’s encounter presents either side with a chance to go two up or level matters. Dieter Klaus-Pagels, the Zimbabwean coach is seeking a double while his opposite Herve Renard will be looking at levelling issues.

The encounter in which Zimbabwe won 3-1 was played in Zimbabwe and now the Zambians are at home.

“To be honest, its really difficult for me to say with certainty that I am supporting which team because for starters I am Zambian and naturally I need to support them but I am also employed by a Zimbabwean club that has a player in the Warriors line-up,” said Kaindu.

He said while being patriotic about his homeland, he is also looking forward to seeing how his players at Highlanders Masimba Mambare and Munyaradzi Diya perform and would want them to lift some silverware, especially at national level.

The former Chipolopolo player predicted a tough encounter between the two sides and refused to predict who will emerge winners.
“Its really hard for me but like I said, the encounter will be a fierce one and whoever will win will probably do so with a small margin, maybe a 1-0 win,” said Kaindu.

He said he hoped the two countries will benefit a lot from playing in the finals of the tournament adding that it could be a window to attract attention of international scouts.

“What is important for the two countries now is to have players moving to bigger and better leagues in Europe and I hope scouts will be there as well,” said Kaindu.
