Kaindu seeks how mine overhaul

IN what could be a sign that How Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu believes the season is over for the gold miners, the Zambian coach revealed that he was already looking ahead into 2017.

Kaindu has in the past complained about the attitude of a number of senior players that he often accuses of not being fully committed to the team. As such they could be on their way out.

a�?The average age in our team is not good; Ia��m not going to lie to you. A majority of our players are around the age of 29 and surely that is not good. We will be building the team around youngsters for the 2017 season.

a�?Last year the team invested a lot in buying players but they were not looking at the age,a�? said Kaindu.

When he took over at the beginning of the season Kaindu offloaded a number of players that include Gilbert Banda, Limited Chikafa, Devon Chafa and Tawanda Muparati who had been recruited by former coach Luke Masomere in what was to be known as the a�?killing machinea�?, a project that later turned out to be a huge flop.

Last week club chairman Paul MacAndrews told B-Metro Sport that in the event the club qualified for the Caf Confederation Cup via winning the Chibuku Super Cup, the sponsors Metallon Gold would not have problems bankrolling the team in Africa.

How Mine was, however, bundled out of the Chibuku Super Cup 4-3 on penalties by Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium.

The gold miners failed to repeat the giant killing act on Bosso in the same manner they ousted Dynamos in the first round of the competition 5-4 on penalties in Harare.

Commenting on MacAndrewsa�� assertion that the club was financially stable, the Zambian chose to differ with his boss.

a�?In this league ita��s very difficult for a club to say they have the finances to buy players, we (local clubs) are not like European clubs that can say we want that player and they have the money to go after that particular player.

a�?That is why we are looking at buying cheOone or even the Division Two league in preparation for next season,a�? he said.

How Mine sit on position 13 with 30 points from 25 games ahead of Tsholotsho FC, Mutare City Rovers and Border Strikers.
