NEW Dynamos coach Kelvin Kaindu says he never saw his Highlanders dismissal coming, describing the June sacking as a shocker.
The Zambian, who once thrilled the Bosso faithful as a winger in 1997-98 before returning for two coaching stints, was back in Bulawayo on Monday — just a day after guiding DeMbare to a 3-0 win over Kwekwe United in Gweru.
“I think to be honest, it came as a surprise, looking at the way we were playing, and the way we had started the season,” said Kaindu.
Kaindu officially started work at Dynamos last week and made his debut on the bench against Kwekwe United.
Highlanders’ pre-season woes, coupled with the failure to replace key departures including Peter Muduhwa, Godfrey Makarutse, Marvelous Chigumira, Lynoth Chikuhwa and Divine Mhindirira, left the club in a shaky position.
Since winning the 2019 Chibuku Super Cup, Bosso have lost stars such as Mbongeni Ndlovu, Prince Dube, Adrian Silla and Brian Banda, while financial struggles and poor talent scouting have worsened the slide.
The latest defeat to TelOne (0-2) on Sunday piled more misery on Bosso, who sit 9th on the table with just 29 points from 25 games.
Meanwhile, at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, Simba Bhora continue to lead the pack on 50 points, a single point ahead of surprise challengers Scottland.
