Kaindu’s mid-season window worry

HIGHLANDERS coach Kelvin Kaindu has not ruled out the possibility of making additions to his squad in the impending mid-season transfer window, though also admitting that it will not be an easy task to bring in the players he may want.

Over the past weeks the coach has hinted on the lack of depth in his squad with the executive also highlighting signings will be guided by the finances available and coaches’ wish list.

“The mid-season window that comes, l think, is tight in terms of player movement because most players will be tied to their clubs but we are hoping one or two come and join us and help fill up the places we need to fill,” said Kaindu.

His side will face Bikita Minerals at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday with Kaindu saying that they have a number of players who have regained full fitness during the two week break.

“I think in terms of preparations, we used the break to our advantage for the players that had sustained some injuries. Some even missed the game we played against GreenFuel. We have had a tremendous recovery on most of them although one is not available for selection. Gillian Nyathi is back,

Godfrey Makaruse is back and Brighton Ncube who has been playing with a bit of a hamstring has also recovered,” said Kaindu.

Bosso will miss the services of Archford Faira who missed some training sessions during the week owing to a family bereavement.

“We thought he would be valuable this week (Faira) but he had a bereavement. He lost his grandfather. He has not been coming for training because of that but we hope that he will be available for selection next week,” said Kaindu.

Kaindu has warned his side to guard against complacency when playing a newly promoted team.

“Most of the times when facing teams like these it’s the issue of complacency that comes in so we have to guard against that and hope we see the momentum and aggression we saw in the GreenFuel game even though we were one man down, it will be good for us. We are playing a team that has picked points home and away and we hope it will be a good game considering the weather patterns have changed and it has become cold and that is one area we also have to adjust to in terms of acclimatisation,” said Kaindu.

Bosso will be hoping for a turn of fortunes after a terrible month of May where they played four draws (Greenfuel 1 Highlanders 1, Highlanders 1 Manica Diamonds 1, ZPC Kariba 1 Highlanders 1, Arenel Movers 0 Highlanders 0) and lost once to former champions Platinum on a 0-2 scoreline.
