Kaizer Chiefs defender killed by hijackers

THE football World is mourning the tragic loss of South African and Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleurs who got killed in a hijacking incident on Wednesday night in Johannesburg.

Kaizer Chiefs confirmed the sad news on their social media platforms.

“It is with a great deal of sadness that we announce that Kaizer Chiefs player, Luke Fleurs tragically lost his life last night during a hijacking incident in Johannesburg. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time. The SAPS are handling the matter and further details will be communicated in due course. May his dear soul rest in peace,” said Amakhosi.

 

Fleurs was bought from Ubuntu Cape Town by Supersport United where he made his DSTV premiership debut and excelled with 70 caps and 2 goals. His impressions at Mantsantsantsa caught the eye of Kaizer Chiefs and he was bought in this January transfer window. The 24-year-old defender was patiently awaiting for his debut at Amakhosi.
