Kaizer Chiefs grab Mphela from Downs

Kaizer Chiefs have signed Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela, the club announced on their official website yesterday.
“Chiefs have confirmed the signing of Sundowns striker Mphela on a pre-contract effective from July 2014,” the statement said.
Mphela’s contract with Sundowns expires in June 2014. He has signed a three-year deal with the Amakhosi.
The Brazilians have be made aware of the deal between the PSL champions and the striker.

“On Monday Chiefs informed Sundowns of their intention to sign the tried and tested striker. Subsequently, on the 7th January 2014, Sundowns was informed about the agreement with the player,” added Chiefs.

The future of the 29-year-old striker has been the talk of football circles recently with speculation linking him to an overseas move and a number of local clubs, including Orlando Pirates.

Meanwhile, SuperSport United withdrew its offer for striker Lehlohonolo Majoro from Kaizer Chiefs, the club announced on Monday.
This comes three days after United confirmed on social networking website Twitter it had signed a long-term contract with the Bafana Bafana international.

Majoro had confirmed late last year he was looking for a move away from Chiefs, due to a lack of regular game time. The striker had since been linked to the likes of Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Majoro made 70 appearances for Amakhosi since joining from AmaZulu in 2011, scoring 20 goals along the way.
His contract with Chiefs was set to expire in June 2014, making him available to sign a pre-contract for another club. — Sapa-supersport.com
