GENESIS MANGOMBE has revealed that the decision to leave Triangle and retrace his footsteps back to Dynamos wasn’t an easy one.

The former Yadah Stars gaffer has taken charge of the Glamour Boys for the second time inside three years after agreeing terms with them a fortnight ago.

The youthful coach has settled down to work with hordes of players filling the training ground as they eye to im-press him.

He is already finalising the squad which he thinks will be decent enough to be able to compete when the 2026 sea-son gets rolling.

Mangombe has brought to Dynamos one of his best players from Triangle Witness Shave and veteran defender Patson Jaure is also expected to sign. But he still feels indebted to the Lowveld club which he saved from relegation after joining midstream last season.

He could have renewed his stay with the Sugar Boys but Dynamos moved fast to take him on board.

Mangombe said: “It’s always good to be associated with a big club like Dynamos, but you know, it’s painful to leave Triangle in that situation.

“I thought I should have maybe extended my contract with Triangle, but you look at the circumstances and also the positives and negatives, and you weigh those things, then you come up with a decision.

“It might be critical to take a decision in that respect, but at the end of the day, we also have some values as hu-man beings.

“So, I decided to leave Triangle and opt for Dynamo for certain reasons which I cannot disclose. “But as of now, I’m happy that we are doing so well in our preparatory stage and the pre-season stage.”

With several big name players milling around his training ground including Blessing Sarupinda, Tafadzwa Rusike, Anotidaishe Gwatidzo, Prosper Kafelapanjila, Allan Gahadzikwa, goalkeeper Nedrick Madeya and Jaure among others, Mangombe is a happy man.

“I think we have a better squad and healthy-looking squad, which I’m still trying to assemble and get the best out of.

“But I’m happy with the response from the boys, the way they are doing their business in terms of trying to ac-quire fitness for the season.

“We need a balanced squad, we need a lot of maturity and at the same time we also need youngsters for speed but now I am happy with the players. “This team is a big club as I said earlier on. This club is not a small team, it is very big and given that we are going to play in the CAF Confederation Cup games, everyone wants to be associated with the team and also I think as you have heard from the grapevine that the sponsor has come, every player wants to play for something so they want to be associated with us.”

But Dynamos didn’t punch as much in the Premier Soccer League resulting in his dismissal in 2024. He is expecting to write a different story this time around with decent players like Moses Demera, goalkeeper Dennis Kigonya, Collin Mujuru and Mandlenkosi Mlilo all joining the Glamour Boys
