KAMBUCHA Fresh Private Limited, has written a letter of demand to online news outlet, ZimCelebs, for posting what they called a defamatory post and pictures purportedly showing how popular Kambucha drink is manufactured in a filthy premise without any regard for cleanliness.
In the letter written by its lawyer Admire Rubaya, Kambucha referred to the ZimCelebs post of January 26, which was first shared on Instagram and Facebook before screenshots spilled into WhatsApp groups.
“For reasons best known to you, you omitted to or intentionally avoided telling your followers and other Facebook platform users that the pictures in question did not relate to the Zimbabwean-made Kambucha producing company, Kambucha Fresh Zim (Pvt) Ltd, our client.
“The first picture of the referenced post depicted our client’s product, Kambucha Lemon Drink, which clearly sent out a warning message against our client’s products because they are a result of a process that is done in very filthy premises using dirty containers where there was no regard for cleanliness and the end user’s health.”

The post was accompanied by nine pictures, which Kambucha says relates to a Zambian product unknown to them.
“In a surprising manner, you still portrayed our client’s product as dirty and not fit for human consumption because the manufacturing process was below minimum standard and thus you were discouraging your followers and various other social media users not to buy Kambucha, which our clients manufacture because it’s filthy drink and ought not to be consumed by reasonable people in the right state of mind,” reads part of the letter.
The company further stated in the letter that if ZimCelebs had done its investigations, it would have seen the real factory not the one it posted in the defamatory post.
Rubaya demanded that the news entity’s administrators ensure the publication of a full, unconditional and unreserved withdrawal of that defamatory statement, pictures and the related imputations together with an expression of regret on the same within 12 hours of receiving the letter.
He also demanded that ZimCelebs deletes the defamatory post and pictures from all its handles, warning that failure would result in criminal charges and defamation claims.
