FORMER Highlanders forward Bruce Kangwa believes the Bulawayo giants have the pedigree to bounce back from their poor showing in the past three games.
Bosso seem to have lost their bearings, succumbing to three defeats on the trot, including a shock 1-2 at home to Premiership debutants Mutare City Rovers which sandwiched a 1-0 loss to CAPS United and another 1-2 defeat to Triangle.
The Bulawayo giants have now dropped to third place on the log standings with 31 points from 18 games, seven behind pacesetters FC Platinum and five adrift of second-placed CAPS United.
Before his departure, the left-back-turned-striker had proven a revelation for Bosso, weighing in with seven goals in 15 league outings, better than any other player in the Premiership so far.
“I could not have made any difference even if I was still with the club,” said Kangwa.
“This is a phase which every team in the world is bound to go through.
“I strongly believe that Highlanders can find a way to refocus and crawl back into the title race.”
Kangwa said Bosso are a very strong side with a lot of players who are able to drive the 2006 champions to the Promised Land.
“Highlanders are a team with a lot of stars who can change the complexion of the title race.
“They have good players who do not easily succumb to pressure.
“Players like Prince Dube, Simon Munawa, Erick Mudzingwa, Ariel Sibanda and Allen Gahadzikwa, to mention but just a few, can contribute significantly towards the club’s league title dreams,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kangwa said he was ready for the new challenge at his new Tanzanian team Azam.
He signed a lucrative three-year deal with the team last week and he is eager to prove his worth in a league which is fast becoming very competitive.
Kangwa praised Bosso coach Elroy Akbay after he convinced him to switch to a role among the forwards.
“I am ready for the new challenge. I have to prove why I was the leading goal scorer in the domestic league.
“I should admit that if it was not for coach Akbay, my career could not have received this boost.
“He worked very hard in convincing me to switch from my usual full-back position to be a striker.
“That was the turning point in my career and I owe Akbay a lot, he is my hero.
“It is also my hope that he will contribute in the development of the careers of other players in Zimbabwe,” he said.
