AZAM defender, Bruce Kangwa, remains grounded despite reaching a six-year milestone in the Tanzanian top-flight league.
He joined Azam from Highlanders in 2016 and has never looked back.
He was among the Warriors’ troops selected by coach Norman Mapeza for the 2021 AFCON finals.
The 34-year-old is vice-captain of the team, which is also home to Warriors’ striker, Prince Dube.
Kangwa said being grounded was important in determining how long a player can last at a foreign club.
“I wouldn’t say I expected to stay in Tanzania for this long, but hard work has contributed to this longevity,” he said.
“I have been working hard because this league requires extra work.
“I’m not sure when I will leave this country but I’m enjoying every moment of it here and I think the future will sort itself out.
“I want to advise Zimbabweans to be focused, and never forget why they’re playing in foreign lands.
“I think this is why I have lasted this long here.”
The Tanzanian Premiership is set to get underway on August 17.
Kangwa said his wish is to help the club finish better than last season.
Azam finished third in their last campaign.
“We have been preparing well for the forthcoming season and we want to do well and win everything.”
Azam have since parted ways with Never Tigere, who joined newly-promoted side Ihefu FC.
Dube has endured a nightmarish campaign, after a promising start, due to a series of injuries.
He made just three starts last season.
He will be praying for an injury-free season to display his quality when the league resumes.
