Kanye West under fire

1709-1-1-KANYE KIMShirley Manson penned an open letter to Kanye West on Monday criticising the singer for his televised rant against Beck at the Grammy Awards. The 48-year-old Garbage singer took to Twitter to defend Beck after Kanye, 37, said he should give his award for Album Of The Year to fellow nominee Beyonce. “Dear Kanye West,” Shirley wrote at the start of her posting.

“It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry. You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work, and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK,” she wrote.

“You make yourself look small and petty and spoilt. In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own,” she continued.

“Grow up and stop throwing your toys around. You are making yourself look like a complete twat,” her post continued.

“Ps. I am pretty certain Beyonce doesn’t need you fighting any battles on her account. Seems like she’s got everything covered perfectly well on her own,” Shirley added for good measure.

Shirley’s posting so far has received more than 24 000 likes on Facebook.

Kanye raised eyebrows when he took to the stage on Sunday night when 44-year-old Beck was named winner of Album of the Year for his work Morning Phase.

The husband of reality star Kim Kardashian soon retreated from the stage unlike in 2009 when he stormed after Taylor Swift after her win at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Kanye returned to his seat this time but let his true feelings fly while being interviewed by Khloe Kardashian on the E! network after the show.

“We ain’t gonna play with them no more,” Kanye said during his instant commentary of the Grammys.

“Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé,” he continued as wife Kim Kardashian looked on.

He continued: “At this point – we’re tired of it because what happens is, you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental music. You are disrespectful to inspiration.”

Beck, meanwhile, took the high road and told reporters afterward that he agreed with Kanye and also thought Beyonce should win

Asked if there was any hard feelings about Kanye’s attack, he said: “You can’t please everybody. I still love him and think he’s genius.

“I aspire to what he does. How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?” Beck said.

Taylor, 25, has since made up with Kanye and was pictured with him chatting at the Grammys. – Dailymail.
