ZIMBABWE youth Elasto Kapowezha Jr is training with Witbank Spurs.

He is the son of former Young Warriors player Elasto Kapowezha who played for different teams in the PSL and is himself the son of former Soccer Star of the Year and Warriors defender, Ephert who cut his teeth at Rio Tinto.

Kapowezha Jr has been training with the club since the beginning of January.

“Kapowezha Jr has been training with us and we’re monitoring his progress at the club. He is young and a type of player we want to bring in next season as we want to strengthen our squad.

“He is good in midfield and definitely at his age and from junior development we can sign him anytime even though I’m only prepared to use him next season,” said Witbank Spurs coach Themba Mafu.

He said the young Zimbabwean player will make a huge difference to his team as he has started focusing on preparing for next season and Kapowezha Jr is one of the players in his plans for the rebuilding process.

Kapowezha Jr is from South Africa’s Absa Premiership team Bidvest Wits juniors where he spent much of his career.

Mafu said he is waiting anxiously for the experienced former Highlanders FC midfielder Peter “Rio” Moyo who has been said to be at Triangle trying his luck.

Mafu said Moyo is expected to get his work permit anytime from now.

Mafu hopes Moyo will be available when his National First Division side battles it out with Brian Abbas Amidu’s Black Leopards in a league match in two weeks’ time.

Spurs failed to progress to the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup.

Mafu added that former Bosso striker Cleopas Dube and the Mubaiwa twins, Peter and Patrick were doing well.

Patrick has bounced back from an ankle injury he sustained during pre-season training.

Absa PSL results

Kaizer Chiefs 0-2 SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits 2-0 Moroka Swallows.
